My Companion My Choice Cambodian Trip

The Thomas Holt My Companion My Choice service can also include a travel companion. Julia, one of the Thomas Holt residents recently travelled to Cambodia with a ‘My Companion My Choice’ team member (Michelle) as part of the Thomas Holt companion service.

The ladies had many wonderful experiences on the trip including their own special traditional cooking class, a Tuk Tuk ride which took in the sights of the city of Phnom Penh, a visit to a silk farm and also a trip into the country to see how a Cambodian family lives. It was an amazing journey which has encouraged and inspired Julia to get out and travel the world with a companion at her side.

Julia has already planned her next trip with a companion by her side to Japan in 2017 to coincide with the Cherry Blossom Festival.

International Nurses Day - Tuesday May 12

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every year on the 12th May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, a celebrated English social reformer and the founder of modern nursing. On the 12th, Thomas Holt also took part in celebrating the outstanding contributions, compassion & professionalism our nurses dedicate to the care of our residents.

Each year one of our nurses at Sans Souci Gardens and Kirrawee is voted by their peers for the Peoples Choice Award. This year it was awarded to Pamela Walters for Sans Souci Gardens and Priya Kurien for Kirrawee.

Also, each year a very special staff member is chosen from Sans Souci Gardens and Kirrawee by our CEO and Director of Care to receive the Beryl Mullins Award. This year it was awarded to Iris Wong for Sans Souci Gardens and Jennifer Merline for Kirrawee. Click here to view some images of this wonderful celebration.

Thomas Holt Cements Its Reputation As A High Quality Provider of Home Care Services

The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency recently visited Thomas Holt to conduct a thorough audit and review of Thomas Holt’s home care policies, processes and procedures to ensure that we met the Quality of Care Principles required under the Home Care Standards. We are pleased to announce that our Home Care team has successfully passed their Quality Review (Accreditation) and all required 18 criteria are being met. On top of that wonderful achievement there were no improvement suggestions to be recorded on the Quality Report.

This is an amazing result and an acknowledgment of all the hard work of our Home Care Team. We wish to congratulate all our Home Care team members.

MAY CHESTER TURNS 105

We'd like to congratulate May Chester, a resident at Thomas Holt's Jacaranda Nursing Home, who recently celebrated her 105th birthday. May celebrated her birthday with an afternoon tea at Thomas Holt surrounded by family and friends. May is a true inspiration who still likes to keep herself active through her interests of reading and still writing the occasional letter to her family and friends.
