My Companion
My Choice Update

We have commenced our new service initiative My Companion My Choice.

The My Companion My Choice service and our wonderful existing Home Care team will be co-located together at Shop 1, 728 Old Princess Highway Sutherland, right next to Highland Real Estate.  One of our first clients Mrs Bessy Bowen, is pictured with her companion Lucy Lawless.  They will be enjoying many more wonderful days together.  This initiative has been designed to help older Australians to remain independent at home by maintaining connections with friends, family and their local community.  It is an independent service so the good news is, our clients will not need to be burdened with completing Centrelink Asset and Income forms.  Nor will they have to seek permission to access our services as an ACAT assessment is not required.  The philosophy of My Companion is to provide services that are tailored to meet an individuals needs that are not limited to or restricted by those provided by Government subsidised programs.

Australia Day Honours – Who Was Recognised?

One of our lovely residents, the Reverend John Healy, was honored in this year’s Australia Day Honours List.  Having established two distinct careers, first in senior management of multinational companies for which he received the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE), and then as a Minister with the Uniting Church, for which he has now received an OAM.  At the height of his career Reverend John decided to become a minister.  “I couldn’t live with what was happening in the business world,” he said.    He was ordained as a minister with the Uniting Church when he was 68 and later became involved in Freemasonry and is Grand Chaplain of the United Grand Lodge of NSW and ACT.   Congratulations from all of us at Thomas Holt Reverend John.

Thomas Holt Kirrawee Accreditation Audit – Excellent Results

Our Kirrawee homes recently underwent our industry accreditation audit which we are required to do every three years.   The audit is undertaken by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (the Australia Government). The audit took three days to complete and Thomas Holt has been re accredited for another three full years. The exciting feedback from the auditors having passed all 44 criteria was that Thomas Holt’s performance was well above the standards.  We are all very proud of this outcome which is a testament to the hard work of all our team.
